Coming Soon: FERG’s Fr0g s002 & K11 SPOT [Retail]

Here we go again!

Hot on the heels of the explosive exit of FERG’s Fr0g s001 + K11 SPOT comes their retail counterparts, s002 + K11 SPOT. Featuring insanely sexy orange accents, s002 comes packin’ all the same toys and is ready to stir up some chaos, deep-sea style.

Fr0g includes an orange/black wetsuit, removable air tanks (they’re velcro, so freaking cool), rubber flippers, spear gun, sMP5, tanto knife, 2.0 articulated and ‘classic’ arms and removable helmet.

K11 SPOT comes sporting a doggy wetsuit with pouches, rubber flippers and removable helmet.

ETA of Fr0g and SPOT is very soon; hit up your favourite Squadt retailer for a release date. The set will likely be around $115. Sweet mother I’m stoked.

It’s official: the boys have touched down in Japan and Shinji at Tomenosuke has announced that Trouble Boy No.7 [Drifter] is releasing at MIDNIGHT Japan Time on June 16th for $150 USD. FERG’s CHIPP s004 and BOOMER [FORT BURNOUT-DSRT] 5.28

  • by

Continuing last week’s coverage of FERG’s CHIPP s004 and Boomer comes the full shebang on this sweet new series, dubbed [Fort Burnout – DSRT].

First off: hot damn. Look at the utter MAGNIFICENCE of this Squadt + K11 combo: interchangeable smoke and yellow lenses; a ton of gear including a tactical vest w/ pouches, totally pimp b&w bandana, Fort Burnout shirt and the overly impressive pew-pew power of a sMK23 w/ holster and SM4 w/ red dot suppressor.

And that’s just CHIPP.

Boomer, on the other hand, lives up to his name with a head case packing two pipe bombs. He also has a harness (aka ‘the treat pouch’).

These two will be making their exit via the Project Squadt store this Monday, May 28th at noon Central for $115/set. There are 200 of them. Hope y’all haven’t taken off for Memorial Day; it’s time to polish the crash helmet!!!

BP x FERG Trouble Boy No. 7 [Drifter]: A Brief History

  • by

Some interesting history about [Drifter] and the Yakuza from Shinji at Tomenosuke-syoten. Trouble Boy No. 7 is slated for release mid-June.

At the preparatory stage of the Trouble Boy #7 DRIFTER, I talked about the symbol accessories of the Yakuza with Brandt Peters. One of them was “tanto knife” that comes along with the Mac11. However, some of the ideas were finally omitted. One example was a badge which was drawn on the concept art of Brandt’s. I sent him a picture of real badges which is famous as a symbol of Japanese syndicates; however, I told him that our design should not be associated with the real one. Finally the idea was not adopted, so honestly I was a little bit relieved. It was just like ”Better safe than sorry.”
On the other hand, Brandt had a tattoo idea from the early stage. The special point of the Trouble Boy this time is the hidden tattoo covering the whole body under the clothes presented by so-called Brandt’s specialty touch. The above image is the first tattoo layout sent from Brandt on July 7, 2011.

FERG’s CHIPP s004 & Boomer [Fort Burnout] 5.28

Next up from the Project Squadt stable is CHIPP s004 & K11 Boomer, a killer new combo and first-ever production release of the [Fort Burnout] series of Squadts. Pimped out with desert fatigues, multi-pocket loadout and pipe bombs, CHIPP & Boomer are ready for the sandstorm.

The set is limited to 200 pieces and tentatively scheduled for release May 28th, likely via the Squadt Store. Price is TBD but similar packs went for $115. Looking forward to seeing what kind of heat CHIPP’s packing, as well as these fabled yellow lenses (Ooo!).

And for those who may be wondering: the previously-announced K11 companion for GERM is still in the pipeline — he’ll be released later along w/ some new QPMNT pacs (Ooo!). Stay tuned!

Brandt Peters x FERG No. 7 [Drifter] Shipping End of May

The second flyer for Brandt Peters x FERG’s next Trouble Boy has been revealed which can only mean one thing: a release date! Tomenosuke’s toy wrangler, Shinji Nakako, has just announced that production on No. 7 [DRIFTER] is wrapping up around May 25th and will be shipping to Japan immediately after. So we’re looking at a mid-June exit.

… Be still, my trigger finger.

More details to come closer to the release date. In the meantime, enjoy the BP sketch that started it all, and a lovely snap of the sweet, cold hardware that No. 7 will be packing (the suppressor is removable!). Pew pew, mthrfckr!!!

Coming Soon to Tomenosuke: Brandt Peters x FERG Trouble Boy No.7 [Drifter]

  • by

In anticipation of the forthcoming release of the next Trouble Boy Squadt, FERG has revealed a slick new teaser of the only Squadt whose origins lie in the land of the rising sun: the Yakuza-inspired No. 7 [Drifter]. It’s also been confirmed that this installment of the barnburner collab between FERG and Brandt Peters is an exclusive to Tomenosuke-syoten.

Release info will be announced as soon as FERG nails down a date with Shinji … keep it locked!

FERG x Grody Shogun Young Gohst Subscription Opens April 30th!

FERG has finally announced details on the release of the FERG x Grody Shogun ‘YOUNG GOHST’ sofubi project! The series is comprised of thirteen 3″ figures that will be offered via a six-month subscription service. Two little dudes will blast your mailbox every month and the last shipment will contain three figures. Each release will have a different coloured body and brain. To add a little excitement, the brain sculpt will be selected at random! (Yes!! Even the brains vary! Mine is asploding right now!!)

The release is set for April 30th at noon central time and will be open for a week. Store link to come! Full subscriptions are $285 USD (works out to be about $22 a figure), domestic shipping included. International orders add $70 for shipping. For those who aren’t looking to commit to the full subscription, a 2-pack containing the first two releases will also be offered for $58 shipped.

A quick refresher for those who missed the initial news: Young Gohst is FERG’s new sofubi (Japanese soft vinyl) project in conjunction with Grody Shogun (Luke Rook of Lulubell). Sculpted by master of anatomical artistry Scott Wilkowski, the 3-inch soft vinyl figures feature a removable brain/spinal column with a tongue that sticks out of Young Gohst’s mouth. In other words, it’s a tiny miracle of utterly kick-ass toy engineering. See below for the aforementioned brain piece as well as a color chart of all the releases (the 13th is a mystery!). Stoked!

Coming Soon: FERG’s K11 ‘Boomer’

The teasers continue to roll out from Fort Burnout with a reveal of FERG’s newest production K11: ‘Boomer’. The concept was first introduced as a custom for FERG’s Medium War retrospective at Rotofugi in January 2011 (photos below), and since then, the legions of Squadt fans have been anticipating its release.

There’s some notable changes to the production version: a side harness has been added, while the bomb detonators and helmet lens have been changed up, along with some minor details on the helmet. FERG has yet to announce any release details as of yet, including price, run size and whether this fella will have a companion. It’s rare for a K11 to travel alone; all other releases have seen him paired up with either a Squadt or another hound or two. Looking forward to more on this — stay tuned!

New WIP of Young Gohst from FERG x Grody Shogun

  • by

FERG’s Young Gohst project seems to be well on its way with this recent screenshot dropped via his Instagram account. A quick refresher for those who missed the initial news: Young Gohst is FERG’s new sofubi vinyl project in conjunction with Grody Shogun (Luke Rook of Lulubell). Sculpted by master of anatomical artistry Scott Wilkowski, the 3-inch soft vinyl figures feature a removable brain/spinal column with a tongue that sticks out of Young Gohst’s mouth. Insanely cool, I know, especially given the scale. Not quite sure about color schemes yet, but here’s hoping for a rainbow of transparencies to show off this guy’s assets.

Official release info is forthcoming, but word on the CAD forums is that they’ll be released via a sort of subscription deal. More info will be posted as it emerges!
