Wooper Looper Gets the Halloween Treatment for Gary Ham’s ‘Dead Wood’

  • by

While I’m not too clear on what he has planned for tricks, Gary Ham certainly has some real treats in store for us with Dead Wood, opening next month at Stranger Factory alongside Bewitching II.

It appears our favorite axolotl, Wooper Looper, also has a taste for Halloweenia: doning a pumpkin head and striped slacks, he’s looking ready to fetch himself some candy, or TP a tree or two (or trick Linus into thinking he’s the Great Pumpkin…). The limited letterpress print is a run of 31copies and will be available at the show and online. A  custom Wooper figure based on the character will also be up for grabs.

Dead Wood opens Oct. 5th with an opening reception from 6 to 9pm. The exhibit runs through Nov. 4th.

Ever Wanted a Blueprint of Your Dog or Cat?

  • by

For every dog and cat lover out there or for the common veterinary hospital, there are now blueprints of your beloved companions. It seems when you combine a love for pets and the skills of an architect and a graphic designer, you get the Animal Blueprint Company. This company makes 1950’s style blueprints of many popular breeds of dogs and cats. The blueprints feature factual information that is specific to that breed like the muscular shoulders of a bulldog to the fox like head of a corgi. Interesting and fun print for all the animal lovers.

Mikee’s Mail Day: Cure Fungah!

  • by

This week is kind of a cheat. I have many things on the way but no mail this week (so bummed!). Luckily I have these awesome bosses who brought me back a surprise from Paris, so Mikee’s Mail Day continues and the toys keep coming in!

This week we have a Fungah by the almighty and unstoppable Cure. Cure are based out of Japan and make some of the best vinyl goodies out there. The Fungah here is a good example of the fun  side of Cure, which would also include their minis called Suck Flies. Reminiscent of a monster we’re familiar with, this specific version is done in the Frankenberry colorway! Nothing like vinyl toys and cereal, it takes me back to my days as a mischievous youth. Cure also make the amazing fellows surrounding our pink friend called Boogie Men. But I feel we should save them for later; something tells me a story about them is on the way…

Until next time, live that 24/7 Toy Life!
