Conjuring Updates!

  • by

We have been busy showing you work in progress images from Conjuring Mischief, but we thought we would give you a look at 4 finished pieces we have taunted you with.

Get ready to see Skelves that range from the classic style of Travis Lampe, to the beautifully painted Candice Tripp, the majestic Scribe sculpted Skelve, and the wool fabricated finesse of Lana Crooks.

Travis Lampe’s skelve shines with gold and exudes expression with a custom sculpted mask. Classic Lampe style!

Candice Tripp worked her elegant detailed painting skills with a beautifully painted skelve. Wait until you see the detail on the leaves up close.

Scribe66

Scribe put his sculpting skills to the test with a 4-legged Skelve that evokes a Chinese dragon parade.

lana crooks 1Lana Crooks also used a 4-legged skelve and let the skeletal system be the star with a fabric inspired structure. That tail!!!!

We have much more to show you, so keep your eyes locked on all our social media outlets.

“Conjuring Mischief” opens this Friday, May 2nd and runs through June 1st, with an opening reception on Friday, May 2nd from 6 – 9 PM.

Andrew Bell calls in the third shift for Factory Strangers

  • by

Looks like Andrew Bell has called in the third shift for his Factory Strangers show at Stranger Factory.
8016_10151976792656463_187648159_nAnother work in progress image from Andrew that seems to truly show one of those magnificent creatures in his head. At first glance, we see what looks like a disgruntled tripod factory worker, but being an early stage of development, and Andrew being the mastermind he is, this little fella can go in a billion directions. Regardless, this sculpt has our attention!

On that note, here is another sample from the show. Not much to go on except Andrew’s description from Facebook “gates and spouts and vents and sprues and stuff.” Bring it on, Mr. Bell!

A journey to the end of the rainbow (Bwana Spoons’ studio)

  • by

20140312_162649_resizedIt seems only fitting that  we take you to the end of a rainbow on St. Patrick’s Day. The pot of gold you find there, is the rainbow maker himself, Bwana Spoons!

The man, the myth, the skateboard loving artist we have come to know has graciously allowed us access into his color filled studio, and you know how much we love seeing where the artists work!
So, while you wait to consume green beer, see where all that rainbow magic happens.

Early images from Andrew Bell

  • by

8db9d0f6a97111e3a2680a84b508c472_8We are getting some early early images in from Andrew Bell for his show coming to Stranger Factory this April.

We can see that Andrew is in his Beast Mode of sculpting. The combination of giant pants and what might be hooves, makes us wonder what manner of monster will inhabit them.

We also have a small hat (below) which in my head I think belongs to a Doozer from Fraggle Rock, but I doubt Andrew is doing that.

Robert Hoggard’s 1080P

  • by

RHAnother quick preview from Deadeyes before the actual preview comes out, and this time by robot alchemist Robert Hoggard.

This creation is known as “1080P”, and looks like it is on a mission. That cold stare is ready for the robot uprising! …well, probably not, since it has a turn key on its head to get him going. He is also equipped with a 95 mm x 55mm LCD screen, and tons of lights in his head.

I can’t get enough of these robots! Who doesn’t love robots?

Deadeyes runs March 7th – 30th, with an opening reception on Friday, March 7th from 6 – 9 PM.

Joe Scarano’s Grimley is ready for Stranger Factory

  • by

Keeping my promise from yesterday, I’ll show you a few of Joe Scarano’s “Grimley” plaques that are making their way to Deadeyes at Stranger Factory.

Joe has about 10 plaques ready to go in various colors and schemes, and we know these won’t last long! This character is simply astounding(and adorable!).

If you didn’t know –
Grimley lives in the trees, he lives in the walls, the ground, the clouds… he appears like smoke to lead you astray. You had planned on walking through the woods to get to Granny’s house, but he has other plans for you. You will happily follow him anywhere he leads you.

Now, for a little preview:

Is that a Skelve Robot by Robert Hoggard?

Skelve Robot

Now this is something I wasn’t expecting, like a left hook to my jaw, a Skelve Robot! This badass piece by Robert Hoggard titled “Misadventure” arrives this Friday for an ABQ takeover ala Rampage!

This custom-built mech by Robert is adorned with UV LEDs in his head for a creepy glow and survey the destruction of the surroundings, but also contains a glow in the dark skull for extra amazingness. There are also lights inside to see the stellar paint job by Jay Hollopeter.

More bots soon from Robert.

Deadeyes, by Robert Hoggard, Tim Lee and Joe Scarano, runs March 7th – 30th, with an opening reception on Friday, March 7th from 6 – 9 PM.

Tim Lee told me to “Get a Grip”!

  • by

Get-a-gripI am back from vacation and slowly recovering from jet lag, and leave it to Tim Lee to tell me to “Get a Grip”.
“Get a Grip” is a double-sided wall hanger of epic proportions! A classic Lee woodcut skull is being gently caressed by a monstrous tattooed arm. Tim is making us wait like kids at Christmas for the other side of the arm that is supposedly painted in different colors. Ugh  – the wait is killing me.

Fortunately, we wont have to wait long for Deadeyes because it opens this Friday!

Deadeyes, by Tim Lee, Robert Hoggard, and Joe Scarano, runs March 7th – 30th, with an opening reception on Friday, March 7th from 6 – 9 PM.

ROBOTS!!!

  • by

photo_4Shing was able to creep into Robert Hoggard’s studio last week, and now we have a few gems from his robot labs.

All the artists are frantically working away getting ready for Deadeyesand Robert is right there in that mix. The robots are starting to take shape! Some are just a shell of a body while others may just be a head. This is fine for now, but if they reach self-awareness, look out Skynet!
