A look back at the Traveling Circus at Rotofugi

  • by

traveling circusWell, all the artists are settled back at their homes, the fans in attendance are all still rejoicing, and we want all of you to share in the wonderment that was the Traveling Circus at Rotofugi.

Many braved the cold and cancelled flights to attend the show in Chicago, and we are truly grateful. If you couldn’t attend the show (like me) we have a deluge of images from the opening thanks to Jason Spanier. Now everyone can share in the festivities, and don’t forget that there is still plenty of amazing work still available right here on Rotofugi’s site.

The Mystery Tooth gets pulled at Rotofugi

They creep into bedrooms at night and remove rotten teeth from sleeping humans’ mouths. They then replace the tooth by embedding themselves into the jaw line.

These creatures are mostly harmless and are actually stronger than regular teeth. They give off a sweet minty odor and often mask the smell of tooth decay and gum disease.

Most people who have them only notice them when they eat ice cream or an ice chilled drink because it loosens their grip on the gums which may cause them to fall out.

This slightly derpy guy from Travis Louie makes me smile every time I look at him. I think he will too for all of you attending Circus Posterus’ “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi this weekend.

Travis Louie’s curious Seaweed Pod comes to Rotofugi

  • by

Trav

Travis Louie’s Seaweed Pod is an organism discovered in the Sargasso Sea in 1928.

At first, the bioluminescence of these small creatures was thought to be a lure to catch prey. On close inspection it was revealed to be a defensive weapon. These 5 inch diameter floaters can generate an electrical charge, firing a spark even underwater when in danger.

Catch a rare glimpse of the Seaweed Pod, or take him home when Circus Posterus’ Traveling Circus comes to Rotofugi in Chicago this Saturday.

  • by

Boomerang2__SMThe winter has been long and cold so far, but luckily for us, that gives Amanda Louise Spayd time to create a new assortment of brilliant Dust Bunnies for Circus Posterus’  “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi in Chicago.  Even Boomerang above is thrilled to be going to Chicago (mostly for pizza).

Alright, onward to Amanda’s amazing work –

Shing Yin Khor gets a tad curious

  • by

Shing Yin Khor is definitely overworked but she still brings her A game for art shows every time. For the Circus Posterus “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi, she even pushed herself a tad more with this brilliant Clown Jelly curiosity cabinet.

tumblr_mzptxwl9Rs1qacyzno7_1280Note all the different clown jelly sculpts and even a life cycle of polyps and medusa stages! The cabinet even includes articles from the sea and small science vials. This mount looks like something straight out of a zoology lab to me!
tumblr_mzptxwl9Rs1qacyzno4_1280There is even a drawer!!! What is in that drawer, you ask? Well, you have to go to Rotofugi to see!
