Definately one of the more interesting vinyl figures to come out over the years, Mark Ryden’s YHWH has held a varied place in many collector hearts. Before this show, I’ve only seen this piece customized by our own Chris Ryniak. This might be because it is by the much coveted Mark Ryden, or maybe people just didn’t want to touch it. Regardless, now a bounty of artists get their turn to interpret YHWH at TAG Art Gallery May 11.
Kathie Olivas is one of the lucky artists to put their spin on this “magical object” alongside Frank Kozik, Lola, Liz McGrath, Anthony Ausgang, KRK Ryden, and many more. In true Kathie style, she spruced it up to epic proportions. Kathie’s YHWH is adorned and encrusted with antiqued acrylic gems with a generous helping of bunny and bee Milagros. We can’t forget the cocked bowler hat, because we all need a proper hat. The picture from her Instagram below does not do it justice, so make it the opening on May 11th if you can and gaze into the captivating eyes of YHWH.
