Countdown to the Carnival: Teodoru Badiu x CP’s “Dark Wippo”

  • by

Barrelling right along with our Carnival countdown, Day 3 brings a long awaited treat: Dark Wippo from Teodoru Badiu and Circus Posterus. Yes, the wait is finally over: this colorway will debut at Le Carnaval des Spectres next week! Conceived by Teo and produced/painted by the CP gang, Dark Wippo is 4- to 5-inches of solid resin (the weight will surprise you), and an edition of 30 pieces. Five will be on hand at the exhibition, with the rest releasing later (eyes on the forum … you know the drill!). This undeniable cuteness retails for $135.

Travis Louie’s Brady Bunch of Stan Customs for Le Carnaval, 9.13

  • by

A few days ago, Travis Louie gave us a taster of a couple Stan Skelves that he was working on for Le Carnaval des Spectres, opening next Thursday at Artoyz Paris. Well, damn, when Travis promises Stans, we get Stans: a whole Brady Bunch of ’em! Each of these dapper gents are one-of-a-kind and handpainted by Travis. They’ll retail for $950 each.

Funny: I wonder how many little slippers and moustaches Travis has littered about his studio; this batch is goin’ bare foot and that’s one freshly-shaved pickle if I ever saw one. (Travis refuses to eat pickles that have moustaches, by the way. But he’s perfectly OK with eyeballs.)

Le Carnaval des Spectres opens Sept. 13 through Oct. 20th at Artoyz Shop + Galerie in Paris, France. The exhibition marks CP’s first group exhibition on European soil and features a collection of new two- and three-dimensional works from Kathie OlivasBrandt PetersTravis LouieChris RyniakAmanda Louise Spayd and Teodoru Badiu.

Countdown to the Carnival: Brandt’s Fantôme Zombambies

  • by

Step right up! Step right up, now! With the opening of Le Carnaval des Spectres mere days away, we’re offering folks a sneak peek at the fresh-from-the-grave, newly-reanimated and flat-out spooky editions that will emerge from the Circus caravan next week at Artoyz Paris.

First out of the gate is guts and gore galore from Brandt Peters, as he debuts his highly-anticipated Fantôme Zombambies. Initially released as a handful of candy-themed customs for Monsters & Misfits II, the herd returns as a slightly stinkier, unappetizing, but equally badass spectre edition. Entirely handpainted by Brandt with acrylics, these resin beasties have GID eyes that bring chills when beneath a blacklight. The Zombambies are super limited edition of 20, with five heading to Paris and the rest will be divvied up between CP forum members and a lottery (if applicable). They retail for $300 a head (intestine, spinal column, etc…).

Tomorrow the ghastliness continues with the long-awaited return of a fan favorite. So stick around — we’re just warming up!

Le Carnaval des Spectres opens Sept. 13th through Oct. 20th at Artoyz Shop + Galerie in Paris, France. The exhibition includes new works from Kathie OlivasBrandt Peters, Travis LouieChris RyniakAmanda Louise Spayd, and Teodoru Badiu.

Travis Louie’s Custom Stan Skelves for Le Carnaval des Spectres, 9.13

With Le Carnaval des Spectres opening at Artoyz Paris in just under two weeks, Travis Louie is finally indulging us in what he has planned for the CP group exhibition. Kicking things off are a pair of custom Stan Skelves, who are sporting some pretty snazzy Cyclops eyes. “Here we spend all this time planning and perfecting [the eyes] and I’m scraping all that off and painting them entirely from scratch,” Travis laughs over the phone from his studio in Red Hook, NY. “I’m a lot happier with this batch … I feel like I’ve finally figured out how to paint these.”

Travis anticipates having nine custom Stans for the show, along with some small paintings. In other words: we have a lot to look forward to. Save your pennies!

Le Carnaval des Spectres opens Sept. 13th through Oct. 20th at Artoyz Shop + Galerie in Paris, France. The exhibition includes new works from Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, Chris Ryniak, Amanda Louise Spayd, Teodoru Badiu and, of course, Mr. Travis Louie.

New Prints from Teodoru Badiu for Le Carnaval @ Artoyz

In anticipation of Le Carnaval des Spectres, Vienna-based CP artist Teodoru Badiu has revealed a pair of slick new fine art prints that will release as part of the exhibition next month. Featuring fan favourites Half Life and Mr. Bones, each 11″x17″ print is on natural white matte, ultra smooth paper. Each is an open edition and comes signed and numbered by Teo. They’ll be available in-store and online through Artoyz.

‘Paperwhite’ by Amanda Louise Spayd for Le Carnaval des Spectres, 9.13

A new little lady has surfaced from the studio of Amanda Louise Spayd for Le Carnaval des Spectres, this one blessed ‘Paperwhite’. Similar to her Daylight Specters, Paperwhite is hand made one-off who comes packin’ enough electric punch to illuminate a room. I can only imagine what she’d look like under a black light!

KO & BP’s New Silver Boo for Le Carnaval des Spectres, 9.13

  • by

For a carnival of spectres it’s only befitting for our ghostly buddy, Boo, to make an appearance and dayyyum, is he looking fine! Brand new from the CP stable is Silver Boo, who, just as the name implies, is enrobed in a shimmering silver cloak, charcoal grey mask and — get this — GID EYES. (!!!)

An edition of 66, Silver Boo will debut as part of Le Carnaval des Spectres next month in Paris, with an online release likely sometime thereafter. There is also the possibility of a CP Sponsor Pack as a fundraiser for the trip, so boardies, keep your eyes peeled on the forums for an announcement from KO within the next week or so.

Daylight Specters + More from Amanda Louise Spayd for Le Carnaval

There’s some serious French lace and GID paint action going on in Studio Spayd for Le Carnaval des Spectres, opening Sept. 13 at Artoyz Paris. Dubbed the Daylight Specters, these two custom critters are just as radiant with the lights off as they are on:

Just awesome. Haven’t been this amped for a GID critter since Amanda’s Deadnettle edition for Dragon*Con two years ago!

Le Carnaval des Spectres is a Circus Posterus group exhibition featuring new works from Kathie OlivasBrandt PetersTravis Louie, Chris RyniakAmanda Louise Spayd and Teodoru Badiu. It’s the collective’s first-ever European showing and runs from Sept. 13th through Oct. 20th at Artoyz Shop + Galerie in Paris, France.

CMR’s Spectres Come Out to Play at Le Carnaval

  • by

Chris Ryniak has been plugging away in the Monster Dungeon crafting some incredible pieces for Le Carnaval des Spectres next month and these two are just too much. Dubbed ‘Spectres’ (official Bumblefubblerpufflelumpkin name to come), these figures are sculpted entirely from the ground-up, as we saw with the impressive foil armature from last month.

While the photo of the first Spectre suggests he’s escaping his skeletal confines, this little heartbreaker seems to be missing his dentures. D’aww. (And we thought we didn’t have to worry about such things on the other side.)

Le Carnaval des Spectres is a Circus Posterus group exhibition featuring new works from Chris Ryniak, Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, Travis LouieAmanda Louise Spayd and Teodoru Badiu. It’s the collective’s first-ever European showing and runs from Sept. 13th through Oct. 20th at Artoyz Paris.

More Spookies from CMR for Le Carnaval, 9.13

  • by

Let’s keep the Carnaval caravan rolling, shall we? Next up: two ghostly little guys from Chris Ryniak — an original sculpt up top (this one KILLS me, SO cute) and a grey Bubblegut perched in a cubby below. I’m not sure if it’s the Instagram filter or the paint Chris used, but Bubblegut’s eyes seem to have a gorgeous, black/silver pearlescence to them, which really pops against his flat grey body (I’m not sure if the figure is done, mind you).

Both of these pieces will be up for ogling at Le Carnaval des Spectres at Artoyz Paris, opening Sept. 13th. Brandt Peters, Kathie Olivas, Travis Louie, Amanda Louise Spayd and Teodoru Badiu will also be exhibiting new works.
