We are very proud to announce that our friend Ash will be doing field reports for us from our second home Japan. For his introductory post, Ash attended Super Festival 66 and gave us an amazing thorough account.

Super Festival 66 (Su-Fes for short) took place on Sep. 28th, 2014 at Kagaku Gijutu Kan (Science museum) in Tokyo, Japan.

Su-Fes is a toy event which takes place 3 times a year since 1992.

Makers, individual dealers and stores have booth selling original and commercial toys, apparels, books etc. About 4500 people attend every time. This event is particularly popular among Kaiju, sofubi, and tokusatsu fans.

From what I could see, the booths consisted with about 20% selling original toys, and 80% were stores/dealers.

I arrived at the venue about the same time as the door opened, and a lot of fans lined up looking to score some exclusive items. Obviously, I was too slow to pick up most of the exclusive items, but still able to see some cool toys.
