February Exhibits – Phil Noto and Jim Mahfood

Stranger Factory – February Exhibits

New works by Phil Noto and Jim Mahfood

Stranger Factory is thrilled to present two new exhibits for February from artists Phil Noto and Jim Mahfood.

Phil Noto’s “Full Disclosure” finds Noto’s signature style in top form, as the artist deftly brings beautiful new characters to life. Few artists are able to capture the subtleties of human expressions like Noto, and it’s impossible to look at his works without being drawn in immediately. Beautiful understatement is the name of the game with Noto’s work, from a slightly raised eyebrow to the tiniest of smirks. We are huge fans of Noto’s paintings, and thrilled to be able to present another solo show by this modern master.

In the Project Room we have the frenetic illustration style of Jim Mahfood. His new exhibit, “Perfect Machine”, brings to Stranger Factory an exploration of sense and sensuality couched in his trademark chaotic style…heaps of black ink seem to explode within and around his subjects as they struggle for a handhold in an unsure world. Mahfood’s illustration style is dense and rich, and carries an intense load of sex, comedy, and violence.

Please contact our Press Manager with any additional requests for artist information or show images.

Both exhibits run February 7th – March 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, February 7th from 6 – 9 PM.

Another in progress piece for Trigger II

Trigger

We got another work in progress shot from Brandt Peters last weekend for Trigger II, and it is about time we showed it off.

Looks like we’re getting Brandt’s take on a robot monster terminator killer! Luckily for us, the preview comes out tomorrow, so we will get to see what all these bad boys look like very soon!

Trigger II runs January 10th – February 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, January 10th from 6 – 9 PM. Both Brandt and Ferg will be in attendance.

Are you ready for what nightmares are made of?

Another miscreant from the dreams of Brandt Peters is all done and ready for Trigger II opening this Friday! This oil on panel piece titled “00ze Scull Study 001” is ready to carve up Albuquerque when the doors of Stranger Factory open (or when you fall asleep Friday night). This Terror Boy is a proper homage back to a classic villain from Elm Street.

Don’t sleep (literally) when Trigger II opens January 10th – February 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, January 10th from 6 – 9 PM. Both Brandt and Ferg will be in attendance.

ICYMI: Trigger II all over the internet this past weekend!

  • by

unnamedIn case you missed it, Trigger II previews were all over the internet this past weekend. Brandt and Ferg had an all out war with images of their work, and it was a sight to see everything pop up on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. So, if you weren’t near social media or were hibernating from the bitter cold out there, we have you covered.

Above is a bloody custom in progress from Brandt Peters titled “The Butcher”. Oh, that meat grinder accessory would make Sweeney Todd swoon with delight.

Below we have Ferg’s plague doctor custom. He knows what you did last summer and it involves meat hooks!
hooksI know we’ve been talking about how big Brandt is going with some of his new pieces, but I think it might be hard to understand exactly how big without some perspective. For reference, Brandt’s hands are not tiny.

BiggunsTrigger II runs January 10th – February 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, January 10th from 6 – 9 PM. Both artists will be in attendance.

Trouble’s gotten bigger!

The sneak previews of Trigger II continue over at Brandt Peters’ Instagram feed, and this time we got a peek into Brandt’s studio, where a bevy of Squadt and Trouble Boy heads are resting happily.

Most notable though, are those drawings in the background! They’re huge! As Brandt says – “Those pinups in the background are life size 1:1 – I never have worked this large with my drawings and I am hooked!”

If you haven’t signed up yet for the Character Design Workshop being taught by Brandt and Ferg, there are still a few spots left!

A look back at the first Trigger

  • by

Has it really been two years since the original Trigger broke the internet and doors down at Stranger Factory?

It seems like just yesterday, but regardless of what time it is, Trigger II opens in exactly one week!

While Brandt Peters and Ferg are busy putting the finishing touches on all their work, we thought it would be good to look back at the original Trigger show from January 2012. This will get us ready and give us an idea of what we can expect from week, but I am willing to bet that Trigger II will be even bigger.

So sit back and look back at the original show.

Trigger II runs January 10th – February 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, January 10th from 6 – 9 PM. Both Brandt and Ferg will be in attendance.

Circus Folk: Austin Auch

  • by

Trouble Boy gangIt’s a new year, and time for a new round of Circus Folk!

If you are new to our gaggle of misfits, Circus Folk is where we showcase the beautiful collections of our many collectors one at a time. We love our collectors and are constantly awed by their collections,

Our showcase this week is a passionate collector of Brandt and Ferg’s work – the brilliant collection of Austin Auch! You may know Austin from the Collect and Destroy forum and from the Circus Posterus forum, where he has taken on the awesome task of “365 Days of Trouble” – photographing a Trouble Boy all over the map!

Gazing at Austin’s collection, it is easy to see that he loves the world of Squadts and everything Ferg. The wide variety and number of pieces is astoundin and comprehensive, and it’s always a honour to get a peek into a labour of love like Austin’s. The love for Circus Posterus and many other works don’t go unnoticed either. We might be pretty biased, but we think that Austin has great taste!

Thank you, Austin!

Are you ready for TRIGGER II yet?
