:ugeek:  A day late - sorry gang!!!

Ok, This week your going to get two artists to check out and were going to travel a bit back in time... I always was lucky throughout my career to be friends with traditional animators and layout artists from many of the larger studios -- Disney Feature, Warner Brothers, etc. One of the many pluses to this was being introduced to artists and designers that time had forgotten, yet you see their influence in every modern vision maker... I introduce...

T.S. Sullivant is one of the most important cartoonists in the history of the medium. He pioneered many of the elements of anthropomorphism that we now take for granted. The general public may not be familiar with his name, but animators sure appreciate his work. The influence of Sullivant's animals (along with the work of Heinrich Kley...) can be seen in many of the Disney features.

The second artist whose name I mentioned above is a rare gem that never gets enough credit and as a very well informed review said on Amazon about Kley... "The fact that Heinrich Kley isn't better known demonstrates the flaw in the idea that "history will sort out the great work." Kley is quite simply one of the best and most imaginative draftsmen in the Western tradition, and he is never mentioned in the standard histories of art... Anyone who cares at all about drawing should pick up this book." - I really couldn't add anything more in touch with my feelings... (Thanks - M. Morey)

:ugeek:  Today's installment is a contemporary artist who I had the pleasure to work with when I was helping over at Wheaty wheat Studios. I have never met a more awesome person on so many levels... First off - on talent alone... Chris really in my opinion was the secret, back pocket weapon of inspiration for many vector based digital artists and others (...it was easy to see for me as a professional Art Director - still is...) // as far as a person - his kindness, support and friendship helped me out many times and I will never forget the guy -- he helped me through LA when Kathie and I were trying to get things going there. Truly such a great talent.

Chris is such a nice guy. I had the chance to work with him for a show a few months back. His work is so vivid and chock full of eye candy, in my opinion. :)
