We have been busy showing you work in progress images from Conjuring Mischief, but we thought we would give you a look at 4 finished pieces we have taunted you with.

Get ready to see Skelves that range from the classic style of Travis Lampe, to the beautifully painted Candice Tripp, the majestic Scribe sculpted Skelve, and the wool fabricated finesse of Lana Crooks.

Scribe put his sculpting skills to the test with a 4-legged Skelve that evokes a Chinese dragon parade.

lana crooks 1Lana Crooks also used a 4-legged skelve and let the skeletal system be the star with a fabric inspired structure. That tail!!!!

This fall has been one of the most jam packed and event filled seasons I have ever seen. To keep us all from doing our heads in, here is a quick rundown of the Circus Posterus related shenanigans.

Ecto-Stan Hits Production & A Peek @ the New Lampe Skelve!

We saw quite a few editions release this month as part of Travis Louie’s stellar Spirits exhibition at Stranger Factory. Among them was the Ecto-Stan bust, which is now officially in production at CP HQ (i.e. Santa’s workshop). An exciting redesign of Travis’ Stan Skelve, Ecto-Stan is the first to utilize CP’s brand-new 7″ bust platform. The lovely handpaints are an edition of 20 at $250 a pop and are available now, should you fancy some old-fashioned Cyclops ‘stache. Send your inquiries to strangerfactorysales@gmail.com.

We also have some more gorgeous resin Calliope action goin’ on from the lovely Ms. Kathie … there’s going to be a few of these, some headed to Paris, some to AFA. And hopefully more after that, because these are precious.

And is that a Travis Lampe Skelve?! You bet your buttocks it is. He’s been a long time coming and what a coincidence that he should make a cameo a week shy of the opening of The Pit Of Unease. Hmmm …

Recap: Urban Decay 3 @ Workhouse Arts Centre 6.2

The Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia celebrated the opening of the third annual Urban Decay group exhibition last weekend with a bustling gallery, musical performances and live painting sessions with some recognized artists from the urban arts scene.

The Circus’ Kathie Olivas, Scott Radke, Travis Lampe and DrilOne submitted pieces to the show and some are still available. Including this beauty:

Seriously, people! Let’s get on this!! Travis Lampe’s Mr. Reginald and Scott Radke’s Shells are also singing to my Paypal account. Just gorgeousness, I tell ye.

Kathie Olivas & Travis Lampe for Urban Decay III 6.2

The third annual Urban Decay group exhibition is a little over a week away and Kathie Olivas & Travis Lampe have set the bar with four beautiful originals.

Kathie has chosen to mix things up, offering both 2- and 3-dimensional works, including a small wood painting (these are typically 8″x4.5″) and an Octopus Girl, which never ceases to amaze.

And then there’s this beauty. I’m pretty sure I’ll never grow tired of the 4-legged sculpt; it’s brilliantly executed and exudes such character, even when unpainted: the poised body and slight bow of the head suggest a cunning and mischief, and I like that so many of CP’s toys possess that ability to ‘speak’. I can totally see this fella slinking about the pathways of some acidic dreamland. This particular Masao is a custom bronze jobby for the exhibition. (Bronze painted, not cast … but hot damn that’d be sweet!)

Then, there’s poor Mr. Reginald from Travis Lampe, who seems to have fallen victim to the weight of his own head. Or maybe he’s paralyzed with fear at the sight of someone approaching with a match. Either way: aww. Looks like me every time I’m writing to deadline.

This bombastic bloke is of the sizable variety, too: 14″ all the way around, and acrylic on wood (I’m sure there are a few jokes in there). I’m quite fond of him and his unrelenting look of terror.

Urban Decay III kicks off June 1st through June 27th at the Workhouse in Lorton, VA. Opening reception June 2nd from 7 to 11pm! For more sneaks, visit Urban Decay’s Flickr page.

Urban Decay III @ Workhouse Arts Center 6.2

Urban Decay is celebrating its third year at the Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia this June with a large group exhibition showcasing the talents of a ton of contemporary and lowbrow arteests.

Circus Posterus’ own Kathie Olivas, Travis Lampe, Scott Radke and DrilOne are among the roster of participating artists. Festivities kick off June 2nd with a reception from 7pm to 11pm that’ll include food and live music and art talks and live painting … sounds like quite the hoedown.

Peeks at the exhibited works is available via the Urban Decay Flickr account; pieces are just starting to trickle in now.

Travis Lampe Teases ‘Topplers’ for New Blood @ Thinkspace Gallery 4.28

Opening this weekend at Thinkspace Gallery is a rather brilliant exhibition called New Blood, a group show curated by filmmaker and avid art collector Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me, 30 Days). Now, the premise behind it is quite ingenious: wrangle a dozen of the art scene’s most celebrated and established artists and pair them with an emerging artist (of their choosing) who carries on in their tradition in some aspect. How does this tie into CP land? Our own Travis Lampe was hand-plucked by the great femme of the fantastical, Camille Rose Garcia.

“In our case the pairing has much to do with noodly arms and booze, I think,” Travis writes. “Regardless, I’m super pleased and honored to be picked for this by Camille. I’ve always idolized her for her crazy, crazy art, of course, but I finally got to meet her last year and guess what? She’s also super nice and fun to hang out with. She agrees that animals look best in hats, and that goes a long way with me.”

Travis Louie & Travis Lampe for Dark Pop 4 @ Last Rites

CP’s own Travis Louie and Travis Lampe are both exhibiting new works in Dark Pop 4, a group exhibition that opened this weekend at Last Rites Gallery in NYC. Louie’s ‘Jeff and Jim’ is a gorgeous, 10″ x 8″ acrylic on board piece, while Lampe’s tragically funny ‘The Dedeodander’ is a 12″ x 12″ acrylic on wood (below).
