Together they are on a mission to save and protect the universe!

New Tide Pool Stinky Ginger – Coming Soon!

  • by

Tide Pool 1

Good morning, delightfully scented people! We’re happy to let you know that if you were looking for something blue and stinky to raid your pantry(or toy shelf, if you must), you will definitely have a chance next week! We love this new edition of Stinky Ginger called “Tide Pool Stinky Ginger” by Chris Ryniak, and we think you will too. She doesn’t like anyone, but that isn’t your fault – it’s a hard life as a condiment.

This one is a small edition size of 60, with Stranger Factory receiving 30 for North American customers(International sales, please visit our partners, Tomenosuke.) – so clear out some space in your kitchen, and exercise that F5 finger.

We’ll have more details on Monday, so stay tuned!

Micro Run of Brandt Peters’ Baxter coming soon

Baxter

Coming straight from Stingy Jack’s world and making another appearance soon will be the ever playful Baxter! There isn’t much news out there yet on this, but we can say this will be a very small hand painted micro run split between Circus Posterus and Tomenosuke. We can’t wait to see him!

More info soon!

Chris Ryniak’s Pickled Ginger Sofubi from Circus Posterus x Tomenosuke

  • by

Pink Pickled Ginger 1

Start practicing your best snarl face because the latest “Ginger” sofubi by Chris Ryniak from Circus Posterus x Tomenosuke is getting ready to go into production! The last incarnation of Miss Ginger was the raw “Stinky Ginger” at Designer Con 2012, and we have all been waiting to hear about the second course in colorways! Well, that time is almost upon us because “Pickled Ginger” is about to be harvested.

The colors this time around feature an opaque spray of pink paint on translucent vinyl with carefully painted details. You can see this pretty little lass’ pearly white chompers in that lovely little grimace! The details and character with this version really pop – but don’t tell her that because she doesn’t take compliments well.

Pickled Ginger will be an edition of 120, divided equally between Tomenosuke (international customers) and Stranger Factory (North American customers)! In line with the other sofubi offerings from CP+Tomenosuke, it will retail at $89. Be on the lookout for release information very soon.

If you can’t wait to read more about the Ginger family, our pal Andy at Kaiju Korner has penned an amazing review of the Raw Stinky Ginger .

Stinky Ginger: An Anatomy

Chris Ryniak’s Stinky Ginger sofubi made a heck of an entrance at this year’s DesignerCon as a low-run, unpainted edition dubbed “Raw”. Retailing for 65 bucks per and run of just 65 pieces, most of the little Stinkers flew off the table before noon (did you see the photos?!), along with Kathie’s Calliope Jackalope and Brandt’s Toxic Marshmallow Stingy Jack.

Stinky is the third release from the Tomenosuke + Circus Posterus line of sofubi. If the name and header card weren’t any indication, she reeks something fierce with an equally-snarky attitude to match.

Chris’s original model stands on the left, accompanied by Yohei Kaneko’s modified version on the right. The figure was resized in scale with Stingy Jack and Calliope and slight adjustments were made to her features.

Recap: Circus Posterus @ DesignerCon 2012!

The Circus Posterus caravan is back from DesignerCon and this year was easily the most insane yet! With the launch of the Tomenosuke + CP line of sofubi, new editions, a ton of customs and signing sessions with each of the artists, the booth was nothing short of a hoedown the entire day. Thanks to everyone who braved the crowds and stopped by the booth to say hello; we’ll see you all next year!

Hit the jump for a full photo gallery of the day’s shenanigans!

Chris Ryniak is Bringin’ the Stink to this Year’s DesignerCon!

At long last we have our first look at Chris Ryniak’s Stingy Ginger in sofubi form and she (yes, she!) is making her big debut at DesignerCon in Pasadena this Saturday! Dubbed “Raw Stinky”, this uber-limited unpainted edition is a run of just 65 pieces and stands 6 inches. A handful will be available at the Circus Posterus booth (#500) for $65 and the remainder of the edition will sell through Tomenosuke-syoten and Stranger Factory later on. Between Ms. Stinky and her pals Calliope and Stingy, the CP booth will be a busy one, so be ready when the doors open at 9am. Come bearing sweets and you’ll win them over for sure — critters and artists alike!

DesignerCon opens Nov. 3rd for one day only at the Pasadena Convention Centre in Pasadena, CA. Event is on from 9am to 6pm. See ya there!

Calliope Jackalope: An Anatomy, Pt. III

  • by

Previously on Calliope Jackalope, An Anatomy, Pt. II: Our little lady is assessed by Obitsu and it’s determined that the figure would require five molds. The wax master is sculpted, the metal molds are forged and the first Calliope test figure is born. Now: we add a splash of color.

With the test figures pulled and green-lighted by KO, it was time to bust out the Pantones and whip up a paint master for the factory to replicate. For her debut Calliope, Kathie chose a soft robin’s egg blue:

At a glance, Calliope’s paint finish seems relatively simple; buuuut … that definitely is not the case. The spray mask alone had to be applied three times more than that of Stingy Jack’s. The figure has a total of eight masks: propeller, face, broken antlers, whites of the eyes, the pupils, lips/cheeks, belly and zipper. The lips and cheeks were the most tedious as they had to be airbrushed by hand to create a realistic ‘rosiness’.

Up next, we take a look at the completed Calliope Jackalope in all her glory. Stay tuned!
