Cabbageworts are ready to be picked

Cabbage

Chris Ryniak has been hard at work gardening in his monster den, and we are happy to say the “Cabbageworts” are all done and heading off to the Circus Posterus group show “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery in Chicago, Feb. 15th.

Big eyes, two toothed, and with a fun scarf these heads aren’t going to last long!

Katie Carillo preps for the Traveling Circus at Rotofugi

Before the “Traveling Circus” starts its caravan to Rotofugi in Chicago, we still have plenty more to show you.

IMG_20140123_223337_652This time, we are pleased to show you what is developing in the studio of the gifted Katie Carillo. Our beloved Katie has an aptitude for painting natural and serene beauty with unnatural and turbulent settings. This peaceful fawn rests in a small patch of grass while the topographical backdrop of an urban city resides behind it – a perfect blending of rural and urban environments.  Katie is still tucked away in her studio for now, but we will see the finished piece soon!

See all the amazing work when Circus Posterus’ “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi opens February 15 through March 9th.

Valency previews for Rotofugi

BrackleyOur talented vixen from across the pond, Valency Genis is about to make her presence heard in Chicago when the Circus Posterus “Traveling Circus” comes to town.

Once again Valency has amazed us with her majestic sculpts of creatures of an unusual and brilliant pedigree. The wide-eyed Brackley above with his elongated striped neck is in awe of his surroundings while McElroy (below) is all ears in his Sunday best. Now, we can’t leave out the wee ones that have come out for the show. These happy fungi creatures are overly excited to see Rotofugi and the city. This is just a sample of what Valency has scheduled for the show, and we can’t wait to have them join the rest of the gang in chilly Chicago!

Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters previews for Rotofugi

3ae09bde889311e3a3361272a5390f85_8Time for some previews of what Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters have been working on for the “Traveling Circus” show at Rotofugi.

The image above is what appears to be a weeping Masao Skelve while below is a masked Elizabeth with a four-legged masked sidekick.

Could the pooch in question be Kathie and Brandt’s beloved Ollie? Now, the bottom image looks massive! It almost looks like a dinosaur of sorts, but this is all speculation, since these are still works in progress.

We will finally see them all when Circus Posterus’ “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi opens February 15 through March 9th.

Scaleybugs Dressed for the Chicago Cold

  • by

bluesweater_scaleybug2Trust us, we know how cold it has been in Chicago recently, and fortunately, Shing Yin Khor has prepared her scaleybugs for for the harsh weather.

Dressed up in blue and orange sweaters, the scaleybugs will be “snug as a bug in a rug” when Circus Posterus’ “Traveling Circus” takes over Rotofugi. Honestly, we can’t say the same about the collection of artists traveling to the show(Brandt, Kathie, Amanda, Chris and Travis)! They might be popsicles by the end of the weekend! But – they will thaw eventually and these adorable not so little bugs will be happy to come to your warm home after the show.

chloeHometown hero Jen Musatto aka Them Dollz, is in full on prep mode for the Circus Posterus’ “Traveling Circus” at Rotofugi this February 15th.

Coming off her succesful December show in Stranger Factory’s project room, this emerging plush maven is making quite a name for herself. This work in progress titled “Chloe” is being assembled before the big show, and this is certain to turn heads because she has bunny ears. We all love bunny ears!

We will have more soon from Jen , so keep checking back.

TL1Tim Lee is getting ready for the Circus Posterus Chicago takeover at Rotofugi!

We love Tim and all the badass work he puts out, and it is a special treat to have him join us in the Windy City. With these in-progress images he sent along, it looks like Tim is giving a nod back to old world Chicago with tommy guns and booze.

Smells like Chris Ryniak’s Cabbagewort

Oh, could it be? Chris Ryniak has a new figure coming up!
b7e7270e780011e3934d1294553a9b9f_8Your tired eyes don’t deceive you, because Chris Ryniak is making a new figure, titled “Cabbagewort”,  for the Circus Posterus show at RotofugiThis one is homegrown in his own basement studio, which likely means that it’ll be a small edition showcase of his remarkable sculpting talent.

You might remember that Chris has made molds with small editions of great little creatures like Nuggleworts, Bugbites, and Fuzzlethumps. Since this is way early in the creation process, we will let this head grow a bit before we pick it, and let Chris do his gardening and such.

Below is a pile of cast Cabbagewort heads, hanging out with their Fuzzlethump and Crumbeater buddies – we can’t wait to see what Chris will be doing with them!

FERG Gears Up for Squadt Assembly @ Rotofugi, April 2013

  • by

Following the immense success of Medium War, his Squadt retrospective back in Jan. 2011, FERG returns to Rotofugi this April with SQUADT ASSEMBLY, a new exhibition that will allegedly redefine art and viewer interactivity. While FERG is remaining tight-lipped for now on what he has in store for us CAD freaks, there is still plenty of time for teasers and hopefully plenty more of this (sorry Kirby). ;)

SQUADT ASSEMBLY opens in April 2013 at Rotofugi in the lovely windy city of Chicago, IL. FERG will be in attendance. Keep it locked for more sneaks from the exhibit; we’re just warming up!
