As I was saying about the whole “when-it-rains-it-pours” thing: FERG revealed this little nugget of goodness on his Instagram a couple of days ago, along with the hashtags #ryniak #testpull and #littlemisfortune.
That pretty much sums it up, amirite? So. Series 2 of A Little Misfortune is in the works. But now we’re left wondering: when? Will this be a chase? Does it have the GID eye like the 5″ SDCC version? Is Series 2 an artist series? Clearly the only way to know for sure is if FERG sends me a case to investigate. I’ll be, uh … quality control. Yes, that’s it …
The Circus is gearing up for another whirlwind party at DesignerCon 2012 and this year promises to be bigger than ever! Rocking three booths full of your favourite CP artists as well as some of our friends from Japan, expect a ton of art, merch and exciting new sofubi releases.
But more on all that soon! Let’s talk about what’s sitting smack dab in front of us: Kathie and Brandt’s new “Midnight” 4 -Legged and Mini Masao Skelves. A beautiful translucent blue with silver glitter and classic cream masks, these will debut at DCon with a larger online release later in the year. The 4-Legged’s are an edition of 66 figures while the minis are a run of 100. Pricing to come! Keep it locked for more DCon release announcements; we’re just getting warmed up!
Unleashing this week from the Playge bastion is FERG’s long-awaited A Little Misfortune series, due to ambush retailers and afflict us with their curse at any time now. The debut blind box series features 16 designs with five chases and one secret chase. And from the looks of this snap, FERG is in perfect form with slick color combos, GID action and killer QC, especially for 2.5″ figures. Surprised? Me neither. Available as singles and cases of 25, the killer kitties will be around 10 bucks a box. Good fortune to you …
Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters are among the roster of artists attending this year’s Baby Tattooville next month in California and their contribution for the goodie bags are delectable, green fade mini Masao Skelves that seriously have me craving lime meringue pie.
Other artists partaking in the collector/artist retreat include Coop, Mark Frauenfelder, Brandi Milne, Nouar, Ragnar, and Rob Reger, with a few more names TBA. Interested in attending? Contact Bob Self at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
Baby Tattooville kicks off Oct. 5th through the 7th at the historic (and freakin’ gorgeous) Mission Inn & Spa in Riverside, CA.
The kitties are coming! The kitties are coming! FERG just recently posted this gorgeous snap of his upcoming Misfortune Cat blind box series on his Instagram (@fergbag), which are due out for release mid-September. Measuring in at 2.5 inches, there are 16 designs in total. Ten are revealed between these two photos, leaving a half dozen to our imaginations for now.
This will be an incredible companion series to FERG’s Young Gohst subscription series, which is due to start bombing mailboxes any time now. More info soon — stay tuned!
Chris Ryniak‘s pint-sized army of critters for Spectrum is wrapped up and ready for action! The mini Bubbleguts, mini Crumbeaters and regular Crumbeaters are each an edition of six and customized lovingly by CMR. You’ll find them crawling about the CP booth (#919), probably nibbling on the corners of prints or sleeping in a pile of t-shirts. Be early, folks — these are always the first to go!
Spectrum Fantastic Art Live kicks off May 18th through the 20th at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, MO.
We have some fresh tasters from Kathie Olivas and Chris Ryniak for everyone heading out to Spectrum next weekend in Kansas City (damn, this came up fast!). First up is a Calliope Jackalope hand paint from Kathie: the first-ever to be revealed! This little lady is one of the resin prototypes (it will also be sofubi), which we’ll see more widely released later this year. I’ve always been a sucker for those floppy ears and big eyes … and now they’re throwing broken antlers into the mix … can’t. handle. iiiiiit. (Kind of curious about the painting in behind, as well; here’s hoping KO’s been slingin’ some fresh paint!)
And please accept our apologies in advance if you’re swarmed by fruit flies while visiting the booth; Ryniak is bringing along some Rotten Banana Mini Crumbeaters, whose siren song of sweet stink is sure to create a buzz.
Sounds like a blast, really. Spectrum Fantastic Art Live kicks of May 18-20 at the Kansas City Convention Centre in lovely Kansas City, MO. Party’s in Bartle Hall; the CP booth is #919, right near the main stage. Brandt Peters, Archer Dougherty and Travis Louie will also be attending.
The newest addition to the Skelve family is the Mini Honey Skelve, who made his debut last week as part of Japan pre-release sale with Tomenosuke-syoten. Needless to say, these — along with all of the other editions — sold out in less than a minute and left fans on this side of the globe wondering when they’d get their hands on these golden grails. Well, good news: CP’s having a Japan fundraising sale as soon as the rest of the stock shows up. Here’s the lowdown straight from KO:
The minis: Once we get this show shipped out we’ll be painting the next round of mini masks for these guys–12 will be chase versions similar to the dark one in the picture (above right)…
We will start selling our Japan Fundraiser items as soon as they all arrive—hopefully next week!
Without ruining too much of the surprise we will be offering a limited number of the following:
5 print set (8×10″ screen prints) featuring Amanda, CMR, Dok A, BP, KO
Honey minis (ed. 100)
CMR tshirt (to be revealed)
Mini resin set (tba)
+ a few surprises…
Folks, it’s time again to spend our allowances. More info as soon as it’s released!
