  • by

So awesome!

Today, I bring you one more double portioned appetizer of goodness before the main course at Brandt Peters’ upcoming solo exhibition: Posthumous Menagerie. Brandt is hard at work at making some incredible Skelve masks for the show, and these are seriously doing our head in with their awesomeness. We will have to wait until the preview to see the exact work on the image above, but for now, we can all adore the meticulous details on the eye below!

Posthumous Menagerie opens Jan. 4th at Stranger Factory, alongside the Jimmy Palmiotti curated The Art of Narrative. The opening reception is from 6pm to 9pm.

Tentacular Goodness from Valency Genis for Circus Annual, 12.7

She may have just wrapped up SUBTERRANE this month at Stranger Factory, but resident painter/sculptor/wonder woman Valency Genis isn’t through yet! A few days ago she gave us this exciting sneak peek into her studio, where she’s busily fashioning a whole fleet of taxidermy “Skelve heads” for Circus Annual. Some are real, some are resin, some are tentacles — all are unique and equally fabulous! Valency anticipates having 9 or 10 for the show, so there will be plenty of Skelve lovin’ to go around.

Circus Annual opens Dec. 7th with a reception from 6 to 9pm. Valency will be in attendance, so be sure to say hello!

Let’s get ready to rumbllllllle! Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters have two killer custom pieces in their corner for the Beast Brothers’s Lucha Libre! group exhibition opening next month at Rotofugi. The dynamic duo decided to mix it up this round, submitting two solo works: a Lucha Greeter from KO and a Mega Lucha Mask from BP, which is quite the opportunity — custom Mega Skelve masks don’t show up to a card all that often. So get yer tickets and place yer bets: the Chi-Town showdown takes place Oct. 5th!
