Andrew Bell goes back to wood shop

  • by

813c17beaee211e3a9ac12f7f9059057_8I was all set to talk about the above image and how Andrew Bell has busted out the wood working skills when BAM he hits us with another image a day later.
10013317_10151985449561463_257260516_nNow we can really see what Andrew is up to for his show Factory Strangers coming to Stranger Factory this April.  This looks to be a portion of what stands to be an epic piece by Mr. Bell. An “extraction station” of sorts, and what is being extracted? What exactly is the fluid in this small vials, and who is doing this? Andrew is really putting the thought, time, and skill into this show. One thing we can can count on, this show is going to be groundbreaking.

Andrew Bell’s Factory Strangers runs April 4th – May 4th, with an opening reception on Friday, April 4th from 6 – 9 PM.

Did you know that our own Brandt Peters originally designed 3D Retro’s logo mascot? It’s always amazing seeing Brandt’s myriad of talents! The man has serious skills!

Brandt’s vintage steam punk robot is about to be unleashed in 3D form as well! Sculpted by Toy Break’s own George Gaspar, these badass robots should be coming to shores very soon. Keep an eye out at 3D Retro for more info.

Cracking open Martin Ontiveros’ sketchbook

  • by

image1We asked Martin Ontiveros if we could have a gander into that bright neon color mind of his for his show coming up at Stranger Factory, and he literally cracked open his sketchbook for us.

It really is an amazing sight when an artist lets you look into their personal sketchbook. You get to see the thought process of ideas and characters, interesting doodles, mistakes, masterpieces, edits, and many times, creations you might never see anywhere else. It is a small appetizer into their delicious brain. On that note, let us see what Martin has cooking for his upcoming show at Stranger Factory.

Andrew Bell calls in the third shift for Factory Strangers

  • by

Looks like Andrew Bell has called in the third shift for his Factory Strangers show at Stranger Factory.
8016_10151976792656463_187648159_nAnother work in progress image from Andrew that seems to truly show one of those magnificent creatures in his head. At first glance, we see what looks like a disgruntled tripod factory worker, but being an early stage of development, and Andrew being the mastermind he is, this little fella can go in a billion directions. Regardless, this sculpt has our attention!

On that note, here is another sample from the show. Not much to go on except Andrew’s description from Facebook “gates and spouts and vents and sprues and stuff.” Bring it on, Mr. Bell!

Brandt’s creatures get a bit more real!

  • by

1779163_284562988364904_672712767_nWhoa!!! Out of the blue, Dennis Cornetta has taken sketches from Brandt Peters and turned a couple of them into 3D turnarounds!

The Creature and Batty even look more spectacular in this form, and the careful modelling brings out all the delightful details of Brandt’s original designs. This is such a wonderful team up; thank you, Dennis!
