  • by

The secret of the oozeThanks to Ferg’s trusty Instagram feed, we get a new work in progress shot for Trigger II.

Looks like there will be more Ooze Terror boys for the show! The green paint application is looking brilliant here, and hopefully we get to see more of this piece develop soon.
Trigger II runs January 10th – February 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, January 10th from 6 – 9 PM. Both artists will be in attendance.

Amanda’s Cookie Decorating Contest!

  • by

Calling all people…who like cookies!

Amanda Spayd is hosting a contest over at the Circus Posterus forums, and this time, you’re going to have to flex your decorating skills!

Amanda says –

Here are the rules:

1) Create a profile on the Circus Posterus forum, if you don’t have one already.

2) Decorate as many cookies as you want – just keep to a Circus Posterus theme (derive your inspiration from my artwork, or the art stylings of any of our artists, like Chris Ryniak, Kathie Olivas, etc. See the “Artists” section for more ideas!).

***The only limitation is that all your cookies must be edible – no cheating using paints or clays, they must be food!

3) Take a picture of your masterpiece(s) and post them on the forum, in the “December Cookie Contest” thread here. If you have trouble posting, the boardies are always super helpful, but you can always just post a link to where we can all admire it.

4) Have a beverage of your choice and toast to yourself for your hard work.

5) At the end of the month, I’ll choose a winner! Remember, this isn’t about how “accurate” or “realistic” the cookie looks – you can score points with me by being really creative in what you decorate with, how you take your photo, what kind of cookie, etc. Just be creative and have fun!

I’m BAD at decorating cookies, so I look forward to being impressed by everyone else’s skills :)

The prize is a holiday goodie bag from Amanda, including this original drawing!

What are you waiting for? Get baking*!

*baking not actually required, but decorating is.

Keep your gas mask off for a bit because we will keep posting updates here on Trigger II as we get them. Remember, Brandt Peters x Ferg’s Trigger II runs January 10th – February 2nd, with an opening reception on Friday, January 10th from 6 – 9 PM. Both artists will be in attendance.

Updates for Winter Salon III!

  • by

Time for an update on Winter Salon III from two fabulous ladies we’ve covered earlier this month.

AlfieWe showed the early stages of a jackalope sculpt by Carisa Swensonand it seems like we have been waiting for the finished pieces as long as we have been waiting for Santa to come down ye ol’ chimney. Wait no longer, because Alfie is here! Totally dressed for a Christmas sweater party or for a shindig at the Griswolds, Alfie the Jackalope has his holiday game face on, and is all about snatching the gingerbread cookies. Santa better watch his back because there may be no cookies left come Christmas Eve!  Fabulous job, Carisa.

Alfie2Next up is a quadruple showing from Megan Baehr aka Nonesuch Garden. We showcased Megan hard at work in a felt wonderland creating centaurs for the show, but little did we know she threw us a curveball with her creative mind. Megan went outside the box for holiday centaurs.
wintercentaursMegan didn’t just create holiday plush centaurs we know from classic mythology and Harry Potter, but she also made a Deertaur and Unicenta with deer antlers and a unicorn horn. This string of ponies consist of Nightmare and Ginger the centaurs, Lolly the Unicenta, and Elwood the Deertaur. We can tell that Megan had a blast making these, and now everyone else can see when the show opens this Friday at Stranger Factory.
elwood2The Winter Salon III runs December 6th – 29th, with an opening reception on Friday, December 6th from 6 – 9 PM.
