Urban Decay III @ Workhouse Arts Center 6.2

Urban Decay is celebrating its third year at the Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia this June with a large group exhibition showcasing the talents of a ton of contemporary and lowbrow arteests.

Circus Posterus’ own Kathie Olivas, Travis Lampe, Scott Radke and DrilOne are among the roster of participating artists. Festivities kick off June 2nd with a reception from 7pm to 11pm that’ll include food and live music and art talks and live painting … sounds like quite the hoedown.

Peeks at the exhibited works is available via the Urban Decay Flickr account; pieces are just starting to trickle in now.

So who else is exhibiting?! Why, I’m delighted you asked:

Kevin Gosselin, RSIN, Gregg Deal, Jeremy Gann, Camden Noir, HKS181, Matt Anderson, Gabriel Pons, Carlos Aguilar, Graham Franciose, Tyler Coey, Betsom, Bryan A. Collins, Daryll Peirce, Jesse Smith, Drilone, James Walker, Asad ULTRA Walker, Jack Labadie, Sylvia Ortiz, Kenny Brown, Kevin Murphy, Jc Rivera, Kevin Rodrigue, Nick Zimbro, Drew Storm Graham and ElStabo.

FERG’s CHIPP s004 & Boomer [Fort Burnout] 5.28

Next up from the Project Squadt stable is CHIPP s004 & K11 Boomer, a killer new combo and first-ever production release of the [Fort Burnout] series of Squadts. Pimped out with desert fatigues, multi-pocket loadout and pipe bombs, CHIPP & Boomer are ready for the sandstorm.

The set is limited to 200 pieces and tentatively scheduled for release May 28th, likely via the Squadt Store. Price is TBD but similar packs went for $115. Looking forward to seeing what kind of heat CHIPP’s packing, as well as these fabled yellow lenses (Ooo!).

And for those who may be wondering: the previously-announced K11 companion for GERM is still in the pipeline — he’ll be released later along w/ some new QPMNT pacs (Ooo!). Stay tuned!

KO & BP’s Frostbite 4-Legged Masao for Spectrum 5.18

And the juicy teasers continue to drop: Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters have a whole tickle trunk of tricks up their sleeves for Spectrum, including the debut of the Frostbite 4 Legged Masao. Oh the mayhem … *steeples fingers* … >:)

Pretty much loving everything about the Frostbite; the eyes, the colour: it feels like it’s been ages since we’ve seen a hand painted blue release (I’m more partial to this than the indigo resin). If this edition is being handled in typical CP fashion, a handful of the Frostbites will be at the Con, with the rest releasing online or through the messageboards at a later date. Stoked over here.

Spectrum Fantastic Art Live is on this Friday through Sunday at the Kansas City Convention Centre in Kansas City, MO. Event’s in Bartle Hall and CP is stationed at booth #919 near the main stage. CAN YOU HANDLE IT?!

Travis Louie’s ‘Three Amigos’ Stan Customs for Spectrum 5.18

Yep. This here would be the personification of shit getting real: frantic crowds, elbows flying, hopefully a good Crisco Twister wrestling match right in front of the booth. … Right. Sorry. *Straightens glasses.*

A few days ago Travis Louie hinted at having a few custom Stan Skelves with him at Spectrum this weekend and hot damn, here they are, hanging out in the Travis Louie Specter Studio, getting ready for their trek to Kansas City.

From the sounds of it, these will be the only Stan customs offered at the Con; a handful of regular ‘Ghostly’ editions will also be available. Pricing on the customs is TBD but Ghostly is $200, to give you an idear.

Spectrum Fantastic Art Live is on this Friday through Sunday at the Kansas City Convention Centre in lovely Kansas City, MO. Party’s in Bartle Hall; the CP booth is #919, near the main stage. Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, Chris Ryniak and Archer Dougherty will also be there for the action so stop by and share a weird story.

*To those who cannot attend, there is Kleenex on my desk. We’ll get over it. Eventually. *Sniff* ;)

Beware, Kansas City! CMR’s Monsters are Coming for You!

Chris Ryniak‘s pint-sized army of critters for Spectrum is wrapped up and ready for action! The mini Bubbleguts, mini Crumbeaters and regular Crumbeaters are each an edition of six and customized lovingly by CMR. You’ll find them crawling about the CP booth (#919), probably nibbling on the corners of prints or sleeping in a pile of t-shirts. Be early, folks — these are always the first to go!

Spectrum Fantastic Art Live kicks off May 18th through the 20th at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, MO.

The Swarm is Coming! A Wee Bee Tease from Amanda Louise Spayd

Well, well, well, what have we here? Amanda Louise Spayd recently posted this on her Twitter, along with a very cryptic: “Doing final cleanup on the master for my next edition, before sending it off to be replicated!”

!!!!

When?! Is it for an event?! How many?! How much?! What is eeeeeeet?! Well, fortunately we know the answer to that last one: shortly after Late Season, Mandi had expressed an interest in making her beloved Bee critter, Bumble, into an edition. Looks like our wishes are about to be granted, folks. Stay tuned for more peeks as the project develops! And here’s hoping Mandi makes use of some of those jars of honey she was collecting …

This Dude’s Got MOVES! Triple Crown’s YoYo Monster Hits the Stage this Summer!

The Triple Crown of YoYo is teaming up with Squibbles Ink and Rotofugi to produce their first-ever vinyl toy: the Triple Crown Monster! Conceptualized by Chris Ryniak and sculpted by Scott Wetterschnieder of Shinbone Creative, this 7″ beastlie doubles as both collectible art object and coveted Triple Crown trophy!

A very limited release of the unpainted edition (pictured) will be available at the Rotofugi booth just in time for San Diego Comic Con 2012. The first colourway will make its debut at the Triple Crown of YoYo event July 28th in Chicago, where folks will also get to see the rare metallic glow edition, which you can only get if you place in the top three in the Standard, Two-Handed or Aerial freestyle divisions.

Pricing is still TBA. Monsters that don’t sell at the events will be available via Rotofugi.com and TripleCrownYoYo.com.

Strychnin Gallery Presents The Emporium: New Works by Doktor A, Seymour & Skeleton Heart

Doktor A is teaming up with Seymour and Skeleton Heart this June for The Emporium, a good old fashioned carnivale freak show at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. Expect an assortment of sculptural wonderment from each artist as they present their interpretation of the ‘dark circus’. Very excited to see what the artists have up their sleeves; every piece Dok produces for this gallery is a marvel in engineering (remember this?), so it should be quite a show. Some teasers await your curiosity beyond the curtain below. The Emporium opens June 8th with a reception at 7pm.

‘Untitled 2012’ from Scott Radke

  • by

Scott Radke recently dazzled us yet again with another one of his lovely maidens, revealed last week via his Facebook page. Another masterpiece of burlap, clay and twigs, she looks to stand at least two feet. Predictably, her haunting gentleness caught someone’s gaze and she sold immediately. Scroll for more photos of stroll through the forest.

Stan Skelve Customs from Travis Louie for Spectrum 5.18

Man, Spectrum is already shaping up to be a killer con, what with beautiful handpaints from Kathie, Chris and now Travis Louie. A handful of custom Stan Skelves will be up for grabs from Mr. Louie, including one similar to the custom Stan from the Bewitching Halloween show, and an amphibian-type that looks “straight out of Avatar.”

Travis will also have small paintings and drawings on hand for anyone looking to sex up their wall space. Prepare to sprint to booth #919 if you want to be one of the first to add these coveted pieces to your CP collection!

Spectrum Fantastic Art Live kicks off May 18-20 at the Kansas City Convention Center (Bartle Hall). Party up in hee-yah!!
